Like your protein? Salivate at the thought of  the crunchy taste of exoskeleton in your mouth?

Then why don’t you try these out for size!?

A delicacy in many parts of Northern South America, these Leafcutter Ants or Atta laevigata hail from Colombia and are apparently the world’s largest species of ant.

They also apparently taste great, especially if you like a “Nutty Bacon Like Taste”.  Mmmm…

Available for purchase at thinkgeek for a mere $20.

I love restaurants… and I love reviewing them even more. Years ago, a colleague of mine, recommended this amazing restaurant to me. raved about the service, portion sizes, and overall great quality of the food. After putting it in the back of my mind for a long time. I decided to go out of my way to find out if this astonishing review was true.

Armed with some my taste buds, comrades (in the form of Thatmanruss, Weldedgrass and waxlyrical) and a hunger for some Quality Italian food. I ventured out to the Venue of choice. Situated conveniently on corner Eastwood and Beyers Naude Drive in Randpark Ridge, Johannesburg.

Great Vibe, and waiters who where more than eager to assist. Our Waiter, a polite gentleman, who knew the menu very well, assisted us with absolutely anything we required. Drinks came, the starters, mains and the day seemed to going pretty well. I did have a few small issues, (but I know when im just nitpicking) so Ill go the main issue. The Dessert. Mains I had an Amazing Traditional Spaghetti and Meatballs. full of flavour, but not overpowering.

Dessert was a brownie tart with Choc chip Ice-cream. sounds great right? well it wasnt, it was dry and the ice-cream was good, but not good enough to complete the legacy the mains left.

just incase you are interested, here is a pic of my plate, mid meal 🙂

Overall experience… Id say excellant. the manager checked in on us a few times (maybe he suspected something, but at least hid it well) the waiters (all of them) were very pleasant and helpful, and the extensive quality non dessert menu is amazing. wonderful atmosphere make it a great date/business/family restaurant.

Would I go there again. for sure. and you should stop by if you had not…

We love food here at eheheheh and most of all we love cooking amazing food! We have shown crokery from knidustrie but this is pretty cool… porcelein looking pots and pans that could be used as both pans and serving dishes.

‘inonnidabile’, which literally translates to stainless, is a collection composed of entirely stainless
steel pieces with the exception of a bamboo steaming drum.

rodolfo dordoni: foodwear for knindustrie

images courtesy of knindustrie

knindustrie (a new company) has collaborated with milanese architect rodolfo dordoni to produce ‘foodwear’.

These beautiful pots, pans, bowls and plates have been designed to be used for both preparation and presentation. Hence the brushed bronze, stainless steel and stained glass, as well as the cork holders.

This dual function greatly reduces
the storage requirements traditionally associated with cooking accessories.
