This is going to be an awesome movie. Especially since it’s a Spielberg/Jackson collaboration.. Using the same method that Robert Zemeckis birthed and destroyed, motion capture CGI, we trust that the brains of Spielberg and Jackson will revive this very cool art form.

With the previous success of Super 8, which Spielberg produced, we can be assured that this film will be as cool as you think it will be, even more so!

Here’s the Synopsis for the film:

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn” is the first in the series of 3D motion capture films based on the iconic character created by Georges Remi, better known to the world by his pen name “Herge”.

The film stars Jamie Bell as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig as the nefarious Red Rackham. Bell and Craig are joined by an international cast that includes Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.

The second feature in the series is scheduled to be directed by Peter Jackson, with a potential for a third film as well. Spielberg and Jackson will bring Herge’s stories to life employing state-of-the-art performance capture technology developed by Jackson’s Weta Digital.

The film comes out on December 23rd 2011.

the grass is always greener on the welded side

there are a lot of movies to be excited about… thing is, to still be excited after the movie is another ball game altogether.

Here are just some of the films being released that I am quite excited about.

Paul, The wisecracking alien starring duo Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost, as well as Sigourney Weaver. ive always been a fan of their Movies, Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead. I expect this be no different.

Another (what looks to be very cool) alien flick…

Battle Los Angeles, Ill put up more of the posters for this movie, really amazing artwork. movies stars the tough but gorgeous Michelle Rodriguez.

Notice the freaky look dude in the backround…

Violent aliens seem to be a popular thing this year, also  with JJ abrams and Spielbergs Super 8 being released. I like secrecy around projects, and both Spielberg and Abrams have exceptionally good track records.

And failled moon mission Apollo 18. Alien movies are only as good as their Aliens. This documentary “lost footage” type film has created quite a lot of hype. it will either be really good, or absolute manure.

And if you prefer your Aliens a bit more err… advanced then Michaels Bays Transformers: Dark of the Moon is right up your alley. The second movie got a lot of drama due to special effects and racially stereotypical robots (thats right… robots) Bay has promised to redeem the franchise with the 3rd movie. I didnt really have an issue with Revenge of the Fallen.

Onto Super Heroes now… technically an Alien (my opinion anyway) is Chris Hemsworth as the  Norse God Thor following in the footsteps of Iron Man, and Hulk to join forces for the Avengers Movie. Supporting cast including Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman.

And who would the Avengers be without their leader, featuring in Captain America: The first Avenger, starring Chris Evans and all American hero. Also stars the always excellent Hugo Weaving as communist scum, the Red Skull.

Onto Fantasy movies right now… the much anticipated Sucker Punch where a little imagination goes a looooong way. Blondie and the girls battle through Dragons, Samurais and Brothels to escape their reality.

There’s the horror thriller fantasy rehashing of Red Riding Hood, where the wolf is a non-traditional werewolf. visually spectacular.

And also a particular favourite of mine is Gore Verbinski’s Pirates of the Carribbean – On Stranger Tides where Sparrow and Barbosa take on Blackbeard and his rather stunning daughter played by Penelope Cruz

Then for more of a vintage horrow flare, you can catch Scream 4, where Neve, Courtney, David and a long list of next generation Actors/actresses get chased around by a(only find out who at the very end)ghost masked murderer. should still be fun to watch.

then probably the biggest question mark on this list is Fast 5. Should have amazing stunts and even better cars, while still being a fan of Vin Diesel I was concerned about the 4th film as the focus was not really on the cars but the questionable acting. let me know your thoughts on this one in particular.especially with the addition of a few new people. should this movie be made, or is there a market Im seriously not aware of.

Then on the Lighter side… Hangover 2 is out, and this time another country and a monkey are involved… 1st film was hugely successful, and rightly so. it was hilarious.

And Lastly one for the Kids… and Grown ups, Kung Fu Panda 2 is coming. Ive noticed that animated sequels (although not needed) are generally very good. with awesome voice over cast and endless possibilites, Po and the furious 5 surely wont disappoint.

This is not be all and end all of possibly great movies, we’re still expecting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as well as The Green Lantern amongst others. What movies are you excited to see? There will be more info on each individual movie as time goes on.
